Sustainable Urban Mobility Vision Workshops Were Held
CITIES BUILDING THEIR FUTURE
Relevant stakeholders met at Vision Workshops held in Konya on 14 March, 2022 and in Eskişehir on 17 March, 2022 within the scope of the Project for Preparing a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan. Stakeholders were divided into groups and focused on accessible, safe, environmentally friendly, economic, comfortable and people-oriented transportation to help determine the Sustainable Urban Mobility Vision of the cities they wanted to live in.

In the Vision Workshops, stakeholders focused on safety, accessibility, environmental friendliness, happiness and peace with a human-first urban approach to begin building the future of the cities they wanted to live in.
The Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality, Mr. Uğur İbrahim Altay, also attended the Sustainable Urban Mobility Vision Workshop held in Konya. In his opening speech, Mr. Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that cities have a responsibility to create a roadmap for achieving Turkey’s target of realizing net-zero emissions by 2053.
Uğur İbrahim Altay, Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality, said:
“The vision to be determined within the framework of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan will help improve the quality of life of our citizens and help us clarify the goals we want to achieve,” going on to stress the importance of the Vision Workshop.

Şenol Kara, Deputy Secretary General of Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality, attended the Sustainable Urban Mobility Vision Workshop held in Eskişehir.
In his opening speech, Mr. Şenol Kara stated that Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality is aware that the way to a safe future is to ensure three main dimensions of sustainable development, namely, environmental, economic and social sustainability, and that it was working in line with these plans.
Konya and Eskişehir have taken their first steps toward livable cities with the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan Vision Workshops.
