Konya Metropolitan Municipality has begun preparing a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan to carry out its sustainable transportation efforts within the scope of a plan for the future of the city.

Financed by the European Union within the scope of the Component A Grant Fund under the Sustainable Cities Project, which is carried out in Turkey for Konya, together with the World Bank and ILBANK, the “Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP)” will be implemented in Konya with a fund of approximately 500,000 Euros.

In line with this, a meeting was held at the Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Department with the participation of municipal departments, ILBANK technical personnel, and the contractor firm to discuss means of harmonizing transport technology and clean energy to create livable cities.

ACCESSIBILITY IS ADDRESSED FROM ENVIRONMENTAL, ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL PERSPECTIVES

Sustainable mobility planning not only aims to regulate and accelerate traffic flow for a better quality of life, but also deals with the environmental, economic and social dimensions of accessibility. We are working to ensure the participation of all stakeholders and citizens within the scope of the program by preparing a website from which everyone can access information, by sharing SUMP principles with stakeholders, and by developing an open and transparent approach, taking into account the long-term vision of our city and the environmental factors; we are also working to ensure the integration of this new planning approach, which is built on the concept of participation of experts from different disciplines and the public, into our major transportation plans that are already available.
